What are my chances of winning?

Our lottery partners Unity offer the best odds of any platform of its kind. Because it’s a number match game, the odds are fixed. This means that no matter how big the lottery is, every lottery number has an equal chance of winning a prize.

Each £1 entry has a 1 in 63 chance of winning one of four fantastic prizes. Every entry has an equal chance of winning, no matter how many players we have in our lottery.

Regular participation may increase your chances of winning; by playing you will contribute to the purchase of items including eye lasers and cognitive assessment tools. Recent acquisitions include state of the art imaging technology for treating bowel cancer and foetal monitors to ensure mother and baby are healthy.

What are the prizes?

The lottery is a number match game. We generate a random 6-digit winning number sequence. If the player’s digits are in the same positions as the digits in the winning number sequence, they win a prize!

For example, if the winning number sequence was 123456, the lottery number 163057 would be a 3-digit winning match; because three digits are positioned in the same place in the sequence.

  • 3 digit match = 5 entries into the next draw
  • 4 digit match = £25
  • 5 digit match = £1,000
  • 6 digit match = £25,000

Why support the Friends?

Celebrating our 75th anniversary this year, we are the only charity solely dedicated to supporting Chichester hospitals, including St Richard’s and the Sussex Partnership Trust local mental health facilities at the Oaklands Centre, the Chichester Centre and Connolly House in Graylingwell Park.

We also run a shop at St Richard’s Hospital selling a variety of items from books and snacks to balloons and gift items, as well as the much-loved trolley runs around the wards selling newspapers, magazines, toiletries and treats to patients and staff.

We are entirely run by volunteers and award over 90% of our total income to supporting local Chichester services and patients. Over the last three years this has amounted to over £500,000.

In the past few years we have covered the purchase of vital equipment including:

  • state of the art imaging equipment for use in colorectal cancer surgery;
  • a portable ultrasound machine to enable quicker diagnosis and treatment for children with arthritis, resulting in less damage to joints by avoiding delays;
  • 30 wheelchairs for use by patients visiting out-patient appointments;
  • a neonatal ventilator;
  • foetal monitors for babies and their mothers whilst their mothers are in labour to ensure both are fit and well; and
  • other equipment for the respiratory, paediatric and emergency departments.

In addition, music equipment, speakers and activities are just some examples of how we have supported Graylingwell mental health patients.
